Five classes starting Wednesday, February 29th until March 28th, each Wednesday evening will be three hours in length starting at 7:00 ending at 10:00 pm. Total of 15 hours of class time plus time on your own to work on assignments from class. You will need to have time to spend on this topic to get the most from these classes.
Class One will start with an overview of setting your Preferences in Photoshop Elements, understanding pixels, file sizes, resolutions and file formats. We’ll cover colour management, how to get the best colour match from camera to computer screen to output and look at Elements Organizer, a nice way to gather and organize the images you take. As you’ve probably already discovered it’s easy to get buried under the wealth of photographs you shoot!
Class Two will start with an overview of all the Icons in the Tools Palette and then work on one of the most important and powerful aspects of Photoshop Elements – “Making Selections.” Knowing which tool to use and how to make quick, precise selections is a powerful ability and once you understand some of the better ways to do this ideas will start to bubble in your head. We’ll then cover Filter Gallery and experiment with all the Filters Elements has.
Class Three, working with Layers. The most creative aspect of Photoshop Elements is the ability to create and combine images, embellishments and textures using layers. There is so much more to this than just pasting one image over another. Elements has 25 different Blend Modes as well as Layer Masks, Adjustment Layers and Layer Styles to perfectly finesse and endlessly create with the blend.
Class Four There are thousands of different fonts, but just because you can type your name in some cool looking font doesn’t mean you should. We’ll go over some of the guidelines of using type successfully and then some of the creative aspects of playing with font in Photoshop Elements like typing on a path (having the font follow a shape), creating beveled edges, gloss effects, kerning, line spacing etc.
Class Five, putting it all together. In this final class we’ll finish with some personal projects. How to put everything you’ve learned into practice with specific focus on projects or styles you want to work on as well as sharing some techniques I’ve learned from over 15 years of working with Photoshop.
The maximum number of participants for the class is eight. This will allow me to spend more focused time with each participant and go over some of the specific interests and projects you have.
This class is on Photoshop Elements, I’m working with version 10, older version are fine, although past Version 8 will have limitations to some of what is being covered in these classes.
Participants will need their own copy of Photoshop Elements (I’ll be instructing using version 10), their own laptop with system requirements to run Photoshop Elements, and an understanding of their individual computers (these classes are on Photoshop not general computing). If you’ve had no previous experience with Photoshop Elements that’s okay, you’ll actually get the most out of these classes but regardless of experience there will be creative expansion. Once the mind has taken in a new idea it will never contract back to its original shape.
A CD with tutorial images, free fonts, class notes, step-by-step instructions and other goodies will be provided at the beginning of each evening.
Cost $195.00
